07.sappho.outofThyme : As I 'flee' again — I overhear several conversations. One, a new policy of matching boys and girls up. A French Academy of girls (I'm suddenly aware that this is Yale University) though, not the brightest, 70 percent end up at public schools like Yale, and an English Academy of boys — who are all nerds — are teamed up. (A demonstration is made by two Technicians. They comment that the girls would no longer have a shortage when finding boys.) Two, (the second conversation), was about my dream sequence, that is, how often do I dream? My dream sequence is analyzed into a famous mathematical formula which will determine something important. Outside the work station there is a strange set up of piers of wood (as on a dock). One of the 'Women' start to jump on and off the posts with the 'formula' and 'beat' out the 'result' of the 'formula'. I find out that there is a great contest between the Japanese mathematician and the American one (who is of Chinese descent). The result of this 'beating' out is the result of the 'show-down' — a very Japanese samurai feel. The final square of posts is where the contest will 'result'. The Chinese-American guy says "Even if I win this one, I'm not assured (by the numbers of the 'formula') that I'll win the next."
